Walking with the Wind’, directed by Praveen Morchhale, won The ICFT –UNESCO Gandhi Medal instituted by the International Council for Film, Television and Audiovisual Communication, Paris and UNESCO at IFFI 2018.
The ICFT UNESCO Gandhi Award will be given to a film that best reflects Mahatma Gandhi’s ideals of peace, tolerance and non-violence.
Priya Krishnaswamy’s Tamil film Baaram and Praveen Morchhale’s Ladakhi film Walking With The Wind (2017) were among the 12 films nominated for the ICFT UNESCO Gandhi Medal.
Walking with the Wind charts the moving story of a 10 year old boy’s spiritual journey across the fragile landscape of The Himalayas. The film has received plaudits on the International Film Festival circuit, from India to Eastern Europe, winning top prize at Rome’s Tertio Millennio Film Festival in 2017, and three National Film Awards– for Best film in Ladakhi, Best Sound Design (Sanal George) and Best Sound Mixing (Justin K Jose).
Praveen Morchhale is an award winning film director, script writer, film producer. Morchhale has impressed cinephiles with for Widow of Silence ,Walking with the Wind(2017) and Barefoot to Goa(2015).
