France Wears IIHM’s Young Chef Olympiad 2019 Crown

Six days, four cities and three thrilling rounds later, on the evening of 2nd February, 2019, France was the crowned winner of the IIHM International Young Chef Olympiad 2019. The winners were announced at the end of a colourful and grand closing ceremony befitting the standard of the Young Chef Olympiad was held at Nicco Park in Kolkata. Cyrene Randrianasolo, a student of Albert de Mun Hotel and Catering School, beat 49 other nations and was declared the winner of the fifth edition of the world’s biggest culinary extravaganza. She was also the lucky first to wear the Golden Chef Cap given for the first time this year to the winner of YCO 2019. The silver trophy went to Romania’s Bogdan-Petru-Alin Vandici of ICEP Hotel School and the bronze went to England’s Luke Hayward from the University College of Birmingham. Along with the trophy, Cyrene also bagged a gold medal and was handed over a cheque for $10,000.

The Indian Federation of Sports Gaming (IFSG), India’s first sports gaming industry body committed to protect consumer interests through self-regulation, today launched its athlete support programme ‘Stars of Tomorrow’ (SOT). The programme has been created with an aim to identify and support India’s future sporting talent in diverse set non-mainstream sports such as Sailing, Squash, Tennis, Swimming and Golf to name a few. Athletes selected under the programme will be offered critical support towards the fulfilment of their sporting goals. 168 entries were received from across the country, and after a rigorous selection process led by GoSports, who are the ‘Implementation Partner’ of this initiative, 13 talented athletes have been selected to be a part of IFSG’s Stars of Tomorrow programme. Dream11 Foundation, the primary contributor to this programme, has pledged Rs.3 crores to support IFSG’s cause.

Rahul Malhotra (Aged 15, Son of Payal Malhotra) has been a part of the industry for a while now. From commercials, Serials or Movies, he has done it all as a child artist. He was last seen in the movie ‘Barfi’ playing the younger version of ‘Ranbir Kapoor’. Despite his age, he was incredibly adorable in his role, making justice to the character. Bangalore hosted the Semifinals – South Zone for India’s largest Culinary Competition for Schools on Sunday. The 8th edition of the Young Chef India Schools, conceptualized and executed by IIHM, had over 30000 students from more than 2500 schools across India participating for the title, a cash prize of Rs. 5,00,000 and a scholarship to study at The International Institute of Hotel Management.
