IIM Indore wins the title of NTPC Electron Quiz 2018

IIM Indore emerged as winners in the NTPC Electron Quiz National Finals 2018 that was concluded on September 18, 2018 at PMI Campus. IIT Kanpur and NIT Rourkela secured second and third position respectively.

The finale saw close competition with teams battling it out for the title till the very end. Samyak Ponangi & Shaurya Saxena from IIM Indore won NTPC Electron Quiz National Finals 2018 with a leading score of 131, Pradunma Choudhury & Anshul Roy from IIT Kanpur came second with a score of 122 and Swayambodha Mohapatra & Abhishek Patra from NIT Rourkela finished with a score of 108. RSVP’s Mard Ko Dard Nahin Hota (The Man Who Feels No Pain at the fest) has outdone several Hollywood heavyweights to claim the People’s Choice Midnight Madness Award at 43rd edition of the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). The Ronnie Screwvala production was in contention with Iron Man 3 director Shane Black’s The Predator, David Gordon Green’s Halloween featuring BAFTA-winning actress Jamie Lee Curtis and Sam Levinson’s Assassination Nation, among others.

The award, which was instated in 2009, is presented to the film that is rated as the most popular among the underground and cult titles in contention. At each screening, attendees are invited to vote for the film by leaving their ticket stubs in voting boxes outside the theatre post the show. Read more

Mumbai’s Venkatesh Shetty wins JK Tyre Monsoon Scooter Rally

Braving wet and slushy conditions, defending champion Venkatesh Shetty annexed the JK Tyre 29th Monsoon Scooter Rally title here on Saturday afternoon.


The veteran rider from Mumbai completed the 5-kilometre loop thrice over in picturesque Sarul Village in just 19 minutes and 13 seconds.


He was in his elements as he was the first to be flagged off. He needed just 6.13 minutes in his first run and 6.03 in the third; he recorded the fastest time, a sensational 5.57 minutes in the second run, making it the fastest time of the day.


Cheered on by enthusiastic fans even as light rain lashed the mountainous terrain, Shetty showed amazing control, confidence and courage to tame the dirt track. Read more

Sembcorp Energy India Limited (SEIL), through its wholly-owned subsidiary Sembcorp Gayatri Power Limited (SGPL), has won a competitive tender conducted by the Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) to supply 250 MW power to Bangladesh over a total period of 15 years.

SGPL has received letters of intent from BPDB confirming its success in both the short term and long term bids, and supply of power is expected to commence soon upon completion of procedural requirements and relevant government approvals. Read more
