“For the first time in India’s history, government identified 12 champion sectors and line  ministries to promote exports.” says Mr. Suresh Prabhu, Hon’ble Minister of Commerce & Industry and Civil Aviation, Government of India in a video message at the  World Trade Expo 2018 organized by World Trade Centre Mumbai and All India Association of Industries . Mr Prabhu further stated that India is poised to increase its share in global trade. In 2017-18, India’s exports have recovered and started growing at 9% after declining for several years. Further he stated,” I am happy to share that the recovery of India’s exports has started during my tenure as Minister of Commerce”. In the current year, India’s exports are growing at 15-16%, despite small blip in last September.

The event started with auspicious Indian traditional lamp lighting ceremony.

The 35th edition of the India international Jewellery Show IIJS organised by GJEPC concluded in Mumbai today with a note of positivity and cheer for the entire trade. IIJS, a premium annual event received all round support with over 40,000 visitors from over 800 cities across 80 countries attending and previewing exhibitions of over 1300 exhibitors.

 

GJEPC had organised a Prelude to IIJS, jewellery fashion extravaganza by the IIJS 2018 Exhibitors to showcase their exquisite jewellery collections to crème de la crème audience comprising of leading retailers, design houses & International buyers visiting IIJS 2018. Rana Kapoor, Managing Director & CEO, YES BANK has been nominated on the Board of the Management of Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT), Delhi. The Commerce Secretary, Ms. Rita Teaotia, in her capacity as Chairman of the Board of IIFT has made this nomination.

The All India Gems & Jewellery Trade Federation (GJF) has unanimously elected Mr. Anantha Padmanaban as its Vice Chairman. Mr. Padmanaban is currently Zonal Chairman – South and he is the Managing Director of NAC Jewellers, Chennai.
