Chief Minister, Maharashtra, Shri Devendra Fadnavis announcing foundation stone laying of Midea Group in Pune, Maharashtra

Midea Group, a global consumer appliance conglomerate and a Fortune 500 Company, today laid the foundation stone for the Technology Park at Supa Parner in Maharashtra, India, with manufacturing plants for home appliances, HVAC and compressors. The foundation stones were laid by The Honorable Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Shri Devendra Fadnavis; Mr. Xiangjian He, Founder, Midea Group; and Mr. Paul Fang, Chairman, Midea Group.

HDFC Bank supports Government’s Swachhata Hi Seva campaign

HDFC Bank today pledged its support for the government’s Swachhata Hi Seva campaign. On this occasion, the bank launched a slew of initiatives, some under its existing ‘Swachhata and You’ programme and some under its on-going health and sanitation programme. These include:
‘Swachhata and You’ drive in over 200 of its Holistic Rural Development Programme (HRDP)villages. This drive will involve inauguration of school sanitation units, awareness drives on hygiene and competitions to spread awareness on cleanliness.
‘Swachhata and You’ drive in and around select branches. This will entail raising awareness on cleanliness through corporate runs,tree plantation drives, distribution ofcleaning material including dustbins and awareness material booklets in close to 700 branches across the length and breadth of the country.
All 89,955 employees renewing their ‘Swachhataand You’ pledge to keep their home, neighbourhood and country clean. Read more

Jindal Stainless supports rehabilitation efforts at Kerala, 25,000 stainless steel plates and glasses, and 500 solar lamps being donated to the flood affected state

Aiding the relief and rehabilitation measures in the flood-hit state of Kerala, Jindal Stainless donated relief material, including 25,000 stainless steel plates and glasses. In collaboration with Luci solar, USA, 500 solar light have also been sent, which are collapsible and easy to carry. These lights, which can charge during the day and be used as night lights, will be distributed in the worst affected areas. Jindal Stainless presented a token of 5 boxes to Kerala government officials at Kerala House. The relief material, benefitting nearly 5000 families, will be distributed in Alleppey by the on-ground implementation partner, World Vision, in collaboration with the District Collector, Alleppey, Mr S Suhas. Chairperson, JSL Foundation, Smt Deepika Jindal said, “We are deeply saddened by the loss of lives and property in Kerala. Rehabilitation of affected families is a long process. This is a small measure to help augment household utilities for people in need”. Read more

Social media has so far exhibited no mood to accept the movie ‘Veere Di Wedding’ with open minds. Initially the actress trio Sonam Kapoor, Swara Bhasker and Kareena Kapoor were targeted for their stand on Kathua rape Case. They were labeled as hypocritical and their outrage against rape was labeled ‘selective’.
The movie has faced fresh controversy when a masturbation scene featuring Swara Bhasker surfaced online. Social media Users have been critical of the said scene and Swara has been heavily trolled for this on Facebook and Twitter alike.
Noted Singer Soumita Saha, who in past had raised her voice against objectification and body shaming of women has openly come out in support of actress Swara Bhaskar.
“If we can accept on-screen sex, why do we object on-screen masturbation? We remain unperturbed by the on-screen portrayal of heinous crimes like Rape and Murder, but the hell breaks loose when a woman chooses to masturbate”, says the Kolkata based singer.

Tata Trusts supports South United Sports Foundation for the Development of Sport at the Grassroots level

South United Sports Foundation has received support from Tata Trusts towards the development of sport at the grassroots level.

Through the support, the program will cover coaching, equipment, and refreshments for 252 students under the South United Sports Foundation community projects, particularly The Dharavi Community Programme, the BPM High School Project, Mumbai and The Foundation Development Team.

South United Sports Foundation is designed to reach out to children from under privileged backgrounds by engaging them in sports. Through this, South United Sports Foundation strives to not only create talented football players but also provide employment opportunities for youngsters in the sports industry. The foundation has trained over a 1000 students since its inception.

Mr. Sharan Parikh, Trustee of South United Sports Foundation, said, “We are delighted to have secured this investment.
