One of Bollywood’s most iconic megastar’s and India’s very own ‘Pad Man’ Akshay Kumar is supporting a nationwide campaign – #18to82 – with the aim of bridging the gap between the 18% of menstruating females in India who use sanitary napkins, and the 82% predominantly engaging in unhygienic practices. The pioneering campaign launches ahead of the inauguration of the Niine Movement, an ambitious new initiative aimed at raising awareness of menstrual hygiene and tackling the age-old stigma against menstruation across both genders and all age groups. On the occasion of the 5th birthday of conjoined twins Riddhi-Siddhi, Bai Jerbai Wadia Hospital (BJWHC) today added 20 ventilators in the NICU. The addition of ventilators makes BJWHC the largest pediatric hospital in Asia having 70 standalone ventilator beds. Ola, India’s leading and one of the world’s largest ride-sharing companies has launched  ‘My Ride. My Cause.’ on its platform to crowdsource funds and support social causes by leveraging its vast network of millions of customers across India. Ola has rolled out this special initiative through a unique partnership with Tata Trusts’ Alamelu Charitable Foundation (ACF). As a part of this initiative, Ola customers will have the option to contribute a sum of INR 1 per ride. The IVS School of Design and Innovation organised a fashion show with ACID VICTIMS to support social cause on its 10th anniversary. On this occasion Acid Victims survivor walked the ramp, the most prominent names are Anshu, Neetu , Shabnam and Sonia. IVS School of Design also announced today its decision to start India’s biggest design and innovation platform, the Centre for Design and Innovation (CDI). The announcement was made at an event held by the organisation in Delhi today in the presence of the Hungarian Ambassador, Mr Gyulu Petho and other luminaries from the design, architecture and related fields. The IVS School of Design is tying up with a major realty company to set up CDI as a vertical campus city in Delhi NCR (in Gurugram and Manesar). This mega infrastructure aimed at start-ups and existing businesses will be built over an area of more than 7 lakh square feet.The Centre will be geared towards designing products and services for the future. The vertical cities project is likely to give employment to more than 5000 people in areas such as design and technology. Read more
