Pandurang More is a farmer with a difference and he says I am interested in doing something for my country and for the poor people.While most farmers are facing a crisis of water scarcity, which has driven many to commit suicides, Pandurang More has penned a novel in English to air farmers’ woes. His novel ‘Kingdom In Dream: The Prime Minister’s protagonist is the son of a farmer who goes on to become Prime Minister. But the dedication page of the book has the name of former president Dr APJ Abdul Kalam.

The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) today launched the Small Water Enterprise (SWE) Alliance, a multi-sectoral collaboration facilitated by Safe Water Network, focused on promoting an ecosystem for scale-up of Small Water Enterprises. The SWE Alliance, comprised of SWE practitioners, entrepreneurs, technology providers, service providers, funders and knowledge providers will work together to align on standards and promote policy reform to accelerate the scale-up of SWEs and contribute to the achievement of U.N. Sustainable Development Goal 6.1, universal access to safe water for all.

FedEx Express Announces Finalists of the Small Business Grant Contest India 2018

FedEx Express, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp (NYSE: FDX) and the world’s largest express transportation company, today announced the finalists of its Small Business Grant Contest in India.  The shortlisted finalists will now enter the final stage of the contest to compete for a grand prize of INR 15,00,000.

 

With more than 450 businesses entering the FedEx Small Business Grant Contest, nominations came from a diverse range of industry sectors.  The entries were evaluated by an external advisory firm with an assessment focused on three key areas: inspiration to grow their business to new markets, how they would utilize the grant, and financial performance of the business.  Entries were also given extra credit for having unique or innovative service offering, or a business that has a positive impact in the community.

 

The second edition of the contest in India saw a significant rise in participation from small businesses, with more than double the number of businesses submitting entries this year. Read more
