While currently the Supreme Court is hearing a clutch of petitions around Sec 377, the film Evening Shadows is propelling the dialogue through cinema and discussions. This award winning narrative film is continuing its very successful festival run with official selection at 18 international film festivals across the globe and garnered two awards. But more importantly it is raising awareness about acceptance of LGBTQ persons by their families, which becomes more important in the Indian context where social prejudices and dogmas are still prevalent.

Sridhar Rangayan, director of the film, has been invited to Los Angeles to present the film at Outfest Los Angeles on July 15th, one of the largest LGBTQ film festival in the world with an attendance of more than 45000 people. Read more

Sri Lanka beckons Indian film ‘Evening Shadows’

After successful screening in several film festivals in USA, Canada and Europe as well as India, the feature film Evening Shadowswill now travel to neighbouring country Sri Lanka for a screening in Colombo as part of the Abhimani European Film Festival for Colombo Pride 2018.

Colombo Pride 2018 together with the Delegation of the EU to Sri Lanka and Maldives, will collaborate for the first time, to launch a unique and exciting Film Festival this year – Abhimani European Film Festival, which will also include a selection of LGBTQ themed films. Read more

Evening Shadows film wins ‘Celebration of Courage’ Award

The Indian feature film Evening Shadows, directed by activist & filmmaker Sridhar Rangayan is creating a big buzz in the film festival circuit across the world. After five sold out shows at festivals in Sydney, Bengaluru, Amsterdam, Los Angeles, Mumbai and Toronto, the film will soon be screened at film festivals in Kansas City, Shanghai, Utrecht (Netherlands), Colombo, Los Angeles, Rio De Janeiro (Brazil), Lima (Peru) and Pristina (Kosovo) in the coming months.

The film is being awarded the ‘Celebration of Courage Award for Narrative Feature’ at the Out Here Now: Kansas LGBT Film festival on June 14th at Tivoli Cinema, Kansas City. The screening is being co-presented by CRES – an Interfaith Network. Read more

Indian gay feature ‘Evening Shadows’ will have its Canadian Premier in Toronto

The Indian feature film Evening Shadows, that is already receiving a lot of international acclaim and awards at film festivals, will have its Canadian Premiere at the Inside Out Toronto LGBT film festival on June 2nd 2.00pm at TIFF Bell Lightbox.

 

The film, set in a small town in India, is an emotional story of a son coming out to his mother and how she tries to deal with the truth, steeped within a traditional patriarchal family. The film highlights the idea ‘when you come of the closet, you push your mother into the closet’. Read more

French film Beats Per Minute and Indian film Evening Shadows - both award winners – will be the Opening and Closing films respectively at the 9th edition of KASHISH Mumbai International Queer Film Festival. The festival – South Asia’s biggest LGBTQ film festival – will he held between May 23-27, 2018 at two iconic venues in Mumbai – Liberty Carnival Cinemas and Metro Inox. 140 films from 45 countries will be screened at the festival, including 33 Indian LGBTQ films. The theme for the festival this year is “Together, With Pride”. Read more
