Seawoods Grand Central (SGC) Mall, the ultimate fashion destination of Navi Mumbai, will mark India’s 71st Independence Day with a unique theme — ‘Celebrating the Indian woman’. In a first-of-its-kind initiative by any shopping mall, the SGC Mall will deploy approx 150 women personnel for mall management on August 15. Women will be in charge of common areas including the parking space, food court and entrance security in what will be a first step towards inducting more women in the workforce.
The SGC Mall, which was established with the agenda of transformation, has been striving for gender parity not just in its own workforce, but also in Indian society and in the workplace in general. A McKinsey Global Institute (MGI) report said that, by 2025, India can add up to $770 billion to its GDP by closing the gender gap in the labour force.
As part of this theme, the SGC Mall is also rolling out multiple offers to woo its women customers. For example, all women drivers will have free parking on Independence Day in addition to an upto 60% discount on over 200 brands.
Acknowledging the giant strides made by Indian women in sports, the SGC décor will have special photo-zones that salute the super achievements of sportswomen such as cricketer Harmanpreet Kaur, badminton player PV Sandhu and wrestler Sakshi Malik among others. This will be in addition to the colourful décor planned for Independence Day. Read more
