In a mission to make the cities cleaner, greener and healthier, DHFL Pramerica Life Insurance has organized its 8th Behtar India Go Green City Summit at Modern School, Barakhamba Road in New Delhi today after the grand success of its seven city summits in Bangalore, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Chennai, Dehradun and Guwahati respectively. The school earned the coveted distinction of hosting the Behtar India Go Green City summit by recycling 50,801.2 kgs of waste, the most amount collected by any school in the city. Vivekananda School, Anand Vihar secured the second spot for recycling 11,439.9 kgs in total. The second season of Behtar India campaign has moved into its second leg wherein the campaign is being taken across to 10 different cities including Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Hyderabad among others. Launched last year, the Behtar India campaign supports the community to step forward and help itself in achieving better health, hygiene and environment standards. The eight month long campaign is focused on three main pillars– Health, Hygiene and Environment with recycling as its core theme.

If you’re up to date with your social media news, you must have definitely seen Akshay Kumar host a Road Safety Campaign in an advertisement called, “Yeh Sadak Kya Tere Baap Ka Hai?” Yes! You heard me right. Sadak Suraksha Jeevan Raksha features brand ambassador, Akshay Kumar in a quirky campaign ad that will leave you in splits!

From brainstorming this ‘hatke’ idea, running back and forth to get approvals by the Ministry to the creation of the advertisement with Akshay Kumar, the team behind this project had put in their tears and sweat to execute this in a fashion they’ve actually visualized. Not to forget, this couldn’t have been made possible without the due and outstanding support of Mr Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport and Highways of India who actually looked into the entire idea and conceptualization personally. Sayali and her team along with Guru Bharat Dabholkar, and associates, Divya Radhakrishnan, and Kiran Vernekar, have also contributed substantially and managed to bring this unique concept for a government advertisement to life. Ducati successfully concludes the 1st edition of DRE-Off Road Days in India

Luxury motorcycle brand Ducati successfully concluded its very first edition of DRE – Off Road Days in India. The riding experience saw the presence of over 50 Ducatisti and Non-Ducati owners spread over two days on 4th and 5th of August and took place at the Off-Road Adventure Zone (ORAZ) circuit in Gurugram.

This unique ride and training combo was aimed at further enhancing the skills of riders who are currently exploring different types of terrains by riding through various parts of the country. The DRE-Off Road Days pays special emphasis on making the riders feel more confident and safer off road. This training is provided by Ducati Certified trainer and founder of Raid De Himalaya, Mr. Vijay Parmar. The sessions were concluded by recognizing the participation of each candidate with a certificate of completion from Ducati India. Read more

As a run-up to the 8th ‘Busworld India’ Exhibition to be held on 29th to 31st August  at Bangalore, a road show was organised at New Delhi on Saturday, 4th August. Busworld, Interads Exhibitions and Bus Operators Confederation of India (BOCI) organised this road show  to showcase the potential, networking opportunity and exposure to the latest technology and services, the 8th edition of Busworld India would bring to the Bus and Coach sector in India.

The event was powered by Association of State Road Transport Undertakings (ASRTU), BOCI and supported by Indian Tourist Transporters Association (ITTA) and Delhi Contract Bus Association (DCBA). Office bearers and members of All India Motor Transport Congress (AIMTC) and All India Transport Welfare Association (AITWA) were also present at the occasion. HDFC Bank’s Treasury Research Team’s Report on RBI Policy Watch: The Long and Winding Price Road

Today’s policy decision suggests that the RBI seems to be taking a long term view on inflation rather than remaining purely data dependent. The discussion on the possible increase in inflation early next year (Estimate of Q1 2019-20 to 5%) as well the assertion that policy rate changes impact the real economy with a lag (with a shorter lag in transmitting to lending rates) corroborates this.

  • Also, RBI’s statements on increasing external risks and discussions on currency contagion (currency war) in the press conference, confirms our belief that the RBI is not in favour of excess depreciation and seems to want to hold on to a certain exchange rate level. A rate hike is a textbook method of defending a currency.
  • Given the upside risks to inflation, discussed extensively, another policy rate hike cannot be ruled out. However, if there is an escalation in trade war risks and a resultant global output compression then the RBI could be prompted to stay on a prolonged pause.
  • The RBI committed that liquidity conditions would be maintained close to the neutral level. This means the supply side pressures in the second half of this year could be offset by OMOs but it is unlikely that we will have any liquidity surplus. We expect OMO purchases to the tune of INR 800bn in 2018-19, including INR 300bn done so far.
  • The bond market seems to have reacted in a positive way to the rate hike (decline in 10 year yield by 6bps). This we believe is in response to the RBI’s commitment to keep the liquidity situation neutral instead of allowing the system to move into a large deficit.
  • We believe, that another rate hike is still on the table and as a result bond yields could continue to go up (after today’s relief rally). In this regard, it’s important to watch out for the inflation readings in September and October (which could be reflective of the impact of higher MSPs). Even without a major uptick in inflation, the sheer supply of government bonds (states and centre) could keep the yields elevated. Important to note, so far only 20% of the budgeted borrowings for centre and state governments has been done with majority of the supply expected to come in the second half of the year. Read more
