Radio City amplifies the festive spirit with Ganeshotsav celebrations across Maharashtra and Karnataka

Radio City, India’s leading radio network has always been at the forefront in celebrating festivals with the listeners, both at the local as well as national level. Every year, Radio City celebrates Ganeshotsav across Maharashtra and Karnataka with immense vigour and gusto. Aligning with the philosophy of ‘Rag Rag Mein Daude City’, this year to celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi, Radio City has launched “City Cha Bappa” in Maharashtra and “RJ Ganesha” in Karnataka.

Through “City Cha Bappa”, Radio City’s RJs and team will be visiting over 100 societies in Maharashtra seeking Bappa’s blessings and engaging the residents with various games and contests. A 10 day-long activity “City Cha Bappa” will be celebrated across all 11 Radio City stations in Maharashtra. Radio City, India’s leading radio network, decided to disrupt the regular programming of the station in reaction to the fuel price hike in Delhi and Mumbai cities. The ‘funhit mein jaari’ campaign, ‘Tel Lene Gaye’ is a disruptive, one day-long activity held on 11th September in Delhi. All the RJs of Radio City Delhi – RJ Ginnie, RJ Divya, RJ Yuvi, RJ Aadi RJ Manav – were off-air because ‘Radio City ke RJs Tel Lene Gaye’. Radio City Mumbai is also replicating this disruptive campaign with RJ Salil, RJ Archana, RJ Palak, RJ Harshit, RJ Pulkit and RJ Karan, on 12th September. Radio City organized a pride walk in lieu of historical verdict announced last week by the Supreme Court of India on Section 377, decriminalizing sex between consenting adults of the same gender. Radio City’s ‘City Ki Pride – #FreeHugs’ took place on Monday, 10th September, wherein RJ Archana set out on a pride walk in Bandra East area of Mumbai, with members of the LGBTQA community. The members joining in for the walk included famous fashion designer Rohit Verma, Social worker for transgender rights, Vicky Shinde, Mr. Gay India (Runner-Up) 2017, Darshan Mandhana and others from LGBTQA groups like ‘Rainbow Tigers’ and ‘Humsafar’. The idea behind the activation was to celebrate the verdict by spreading the message of #LoveisLove and members of the community giving out free hugs to all. The contingent held placards saying “Love is Love”, “Love knows no gender” and Pride flags while offering Free Hugs to passersby. Read more

WhatsApp launches Radio Ad Campaign to create awareness about misinformation

As a part of the on-going educational campaign by WhatsApp on user safety, WhatsApp has initiated a radio campaign to create awareness about misinformation circulated on the platform. Through this radio campaign, WhatsApp urges its users to be cognizant of the messages they receive and be mindful before forwarding.

The first phase of the educational campaign started on August 29 with radio ads across 46 Hindi speaking radio stations of AIR across 7 states like Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. The second phase of the campaign starts on September 5 with radio ads across 83 radio stations of AIR across the states of Assam, Tripura, West Bengal, Gujarat, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, Orissa and Tamil Nadu. These campaigns will run in eight regional languages i.e. Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Marathi, Telugu, Oriya and Tamil and will run for a 15-day duration. The campaign has been designed in an easy to understand format to help user’s spot misinformation and further sensitize them about the challenges of fake news and addressing these as a society. Radio City’s RJ Salil and RJ Archana, along with Bollywood Actor Manish Paul took the Kar Mumbaikar initiative a step further with the pothole filling activity in Todi Mill compound, Lower Parel. Radio City initiatied Kar Mumbaikar as an effort to help resolve the innumerable problems faced by Mumbaikars during the infamous monsoon. Various Bollywood celebrities like John Abraham, Shankar Mahadevan, Vicky Kaushal, Tapsee Pannu, Jimmy Shergill and more have joined the cause and extended their full support to the initiative.

Radio City Continues to Influence the Nation with Highest Listenership of 6.7 Crore Indians as per the Latest AZ Research Findings

Radio City, India’s leading radio network has once again emerged as the number 1 FM broadcaster as per the recent AZ Research Baseline Study 2018. With listenership amassing a whopping 6.7 crores across 34 markets, Radio City has consolidated its PAN India leadership position and reiterated its popularity amongst radio fans in the country.  The report summarizes city wise as well as zone wise listenership data and shows trends in each part of the country.

Radio City achieved the highest listenership of 86 lakhs in Mumbai and topped the charts in Pune (40 lakh), Nagpur (20 lakh), Nagar (7 lakh), Baroda (11 lakh), Surat (35 lakh) and Jaipur (19 lakh), thereby achieving the highest listenership of 2.9 crores in the West zone. Similarly, the South Zone and North Zone also witnessed Radio City dominating the markets with top listenership of 1.8 crores and 1.9 crores respectively. Some of the noteworthy highlights of this performance include Radio City attaining the highest listenership of 59 lakhs and 103 lakhs in Bangalore and Delhi respectively.
