Yash Mehta appointed Executive Director at Oxford University Press India

Yash Mehta, Executive Director, OUP

Oxford University Press (OUP), the world’s largest university press, today announced the appointment of Yash Mehta as Executive Director. Yash will report to Sivaramakrishnan V (Siva), Managing Director, OUP India and will be responsible for OUP India’s School Education Sales, Marketing and Editorial functions.

Yash joins OUP from Macmillan Education India, where, as the country lead, he was responsible for driving Macmillan’s education business in India and the neighbouring markets of Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Middle-East, Nepal and Bangladesh. Prior to joining Macmillan, Yash was Vice President – Schools and Retail at Educomp Infrastructure & School Management Limited. Read more

To ensure freedom for the news media, it was necessary to ensure the financial stability of journalists, and job security. It is only if a journalist is financially secure that he can do his job with peace of mind, said Justice C K Prasad, chairman of the Press Council of India (PCI).

Giving his closing remarks as the chief guest at the ‘National Red Ink Awards for Excellence in Journalist’ on Friday, Justice Prasad said it was not fair on the part of media owners to run down the appointment of Wage Boards for media employees. Other industries such as cement and pharmaceuticals are all governed by the Minimum Wages Act, where such law does not exist for newspaper employees, he pointed out. Read more

KASHISH Mumbai International Queer Film Festival – South Asia’s Biggest and India’s only mainstream lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender film fest –  is back for its 9th edition. The festival will be held from May 23-27, 2018 at two venues in South Mumbai – Liberty Carnival Cinemas and Metro Inox. Founded in 2010, KASHISH was voted as one of the Top 5 LGBT Film Festival in the World and was the first Indian LGBT festival to be held with approval by the Information & Broadcasting Ministry, Government of India. The National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) and Drumroll Pictures hosted a press screening of the film Angrezi Mein Kehte Hain at the Films Division auditorium in New Delhi today. The screening was followed by a media interaction with the cast and crew of the film which included actors Sanjay Mishra, Ekavali Khanna, Shivani Raghuvanshi, Anshuman Jha, producer Manav Malhotra (of Drumroll Pictures) and director Harish Vyas. The Embassy of Israel is happy to welcome Chief Minister of Haryana, Manohar Lal Khattar, Minister of State for Panchayati, Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Parshottam Rupala, Agriculture Minister of Maharashtra, Pandurang Pundalik Fundkar, Senior Officials from the State of Punjab, as well as over 100 Indian company representatives to Agritech 2018 in Israel. In all, over one thousand representatives from India will attend the two day conference.

Agritech 2018 is the 20th conference on agricultural technologies taking place in Israel. The conference, beginning tomorrow (8), features speakers from Israel and around the world, sharing know-how, innovation and technology in agriculture and food processing. The theme for this year’s conference is “Agriculture in arid and semi-arid regions”, a topic relevant to large parts of India. Read more
