Lady Gaga’s ‘A Star is Born’ to be the India Premiere & Opening Film of the 9th Jagran Film Festival

As the Mumbai Chapter of most eagerly awaited film festival, the 9th Jagran Film Festival draws closer; it has been revealed that the Mumbai edition of the festival will open with the India Premiere of Lady Gaga’s most awaited film, “A Star is Born”, directed by Bradley Cooper.

A Star is Born is an American musical romantic drama film produced and directed by Bradley Cooper, which is also his directorial debut. The film is a remake of a 1937 film, which revolves around a musician who helps a young singer and actress find fame, even as age and alcoholism send his own career into a downward spiral.

A Star Is Born was premiered globally at the 75th Venice International Film Festival in August 2018 and is now set to have its India Premiere at the Mumbai Edition of 9th Jagran Film Festival on 27th September 2018. Read more

Cameron Bailey, Artistic Director of Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) says, “Last year Rima Das came to the Festival with Village Rockstars, her delightful drama about a girl with a dream. After its premiere here, it went on to sweep India’s National Film Awards and play dozens of festivals around the world. Das is back with another breath of fresh air, once again shot amidst the timeless beauty of her home village in India’s Assam state. Manoj Bajpayee’s next feature, Bhonsle to have its World Premiere at the prestigious 23rd Busan International Film Festival to be held from 4-13 October 2018.

The film directed by Devashish Makhija is nominated for the “Kim Jiseok Award” in the A Window on Asian Cinema section. The award will be given out together with a cash prize of 10,000 US dollars to the final two films, selected by the jury members at the Closing Ceremony, which will be held on the 13th of October 2018.
