Edelweiss announces Rs. 10,000 million Public Issue of Secured Redeemable Non-Convertible Debentures (NCDs)

ECL Finance Ltd (ECLF), the NBFC arm of Edelweiss Group, today announced the public issue of Secured Redeemable Non-Convertible Debentures (NCDs) of the face value of Rs. 1,000 each, aggregating to Rs. 2,500 million, with an option to retain over-subscription up to Rs. 7,500 million aggregating to a total of Rs. 10,000 million (Rs. 1,000 crores).

*The NCDs offer an effective yield of 10.20% p.a. for 39 months tenure, 10.42% p.a. for 60 months tenure and 10.64% for 120 months tenure.

CRISIL has rated the offering “CRISIL AA/Stable” and ICRA has given it a “[ICRA] AA (Stable)” indicating that the instruments are considered to have a high degree of safety for timely servicing of financial obligations and carry very low credit risk.

  • Reported revenue from operations for the quarter was Rs 29,270 million, an increase of 20.2% over Q1 FY18. Revenue growth, excluding the impact of Excise Duty in Q1 FY18 and the Interior Plastics Business in North America which was phased out during FY18, was at 28.8% YoY. The India Business revenue increased by 28.3%, the Global Lighting Business (VLS) by 29.1% and Others by 31.8% over Q1 FY18.

  • The reported EBITDA for Q1FY19 was Rs 2,412 million, an increase of 9.1% YoY. EBITDA on a like-for-like basis was up by 26.0% and the EBITDA margin on like-for-like basis for the quarter was at 8.8%.

  • The PAT for the quarter was at Rs 1,004 million as compared to Rs 984 million for Q1 FY18. Read more

Digit Insurance Raises a Record $44 Million in the Second Round of Funding

Digit Insurance, a new age insurance startup, which wants to make insurance simple, has raised $44 million in a second round of funding. Canadian billionaire Prem Watsa’s Fairfax Holdings has invested second round of capital ($45 million) in Digit Infoworks, a parent company for Digit insurance of which a significant part of the investment ($44 million) is given to Digit Insurance. The funding is the largest round in the Indian general insurance ecosystem. This investment brings Digit’s total funding to $94 million.

 

Digit Insurance plans to invest the funds in technology to drive its mission of making insurance simple.  A significant use of fund will also be invested in launching new lines of products and expansion of distribution network across the country.
