Forever Against Animal Testing

Natura &Co, the global purpose-driven beauty group, and its ethical beauty brand The Body Shop, are this week advocating for change at the United Nations (UN) High Level Political Forum (HLPF), taking place in New York.

Natura &Co, Natura and The Body Shop are hosting and participating in events throughout the week with key UN missions and stakeholders to reinforce their commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and their drive to build a fairer and more sustainable world.

In line with the HLPF theme of “Transformation towards sustainable and resilient societies,” The Body Shop will be enforcing its commitment to Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) Goal 12: responsible consumption and production. The goal is relevant to The Body Shop and Cruelty Free International’s current Forever Against Animal Testing Campaign, which aims to end animal testing in cosmetics globally. Seven million people around the world have signed the petition which will be presented to the UN later this year.

Natura is also fully committed to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development adopted in 2015. Through initiatives relating to issues such as carbon, waste, women’s empowerment, education, water, biodiversity and the Amazon Rainforest, Natura contributes directly or indirectly to 16 of the 17 SDGs.

CSIA Mumbai achieves three-year renewal of ACI’s Level 3+ Neutrality

GVK Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL), the company that administers the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (CSIA) achieved yet another milestone by becoming the only airport in the country and second globally, to achieve a three-year extension of ACI’s Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA) ‘Level 3+ Neutrality’ certification. This prestigious certification is conferred by the Airports Council International (ACI), the global authority of International Airports.

 

ACA ‘Level 3+ Neutrality’ accreditation is the highest level of environmental achievement available to airports for their contribution in offsetting carbon emissions. This certification assumes greater importance given that CSI Airport, Mumbai has the credit of being the busiest airport with a single runway with more than 48.5 million passengers having travelled to and from Mumbai.

The accreditation will be valid till May 2021 and is the outcome of continuous efforts for environmental protection, energy management and reduction of carbon emissions in airport operations. Three year renewal of ACA Level 3+ requires an airport to fulfill stringent requirement of achieving reduction (verified by third party) in GHG emissions of one of its Scope 3 activity, in addition to the reduction of Scope 1 & Scope 2 emissions. Tata Trusts supports South United Sports Foundation for the Development of Sport at the Grassroots level

South United Sports Foundation has received support from Tata Trusts towards the development of sport at the grassroots level.

Through the support, the program will cover coaching, equipment, and refreshments for 252 students under the South United Sports Foundation community projects, particularly The Dharavi Community Programme, the BPM High School Project, Mumbai and The Foundation Development Team.

South United Sports Foundation is designed to reach out to children from under privileged backgrounds by engaging them in sports. Through this, South United Sports Foundation strives to not only create talented football players but also provide employment opportunities for youngsters in the sports industry. The foundation has trained over a 1000 students since its inception.

Mr. Sharan Parikh, Trustee of South United Sports Foundation, said, “We are delighted to have secured this investment. This will help with our community programmes, constructed with the aim of bringing in underprivileged kids to give them an opportunity to develop into athletes as well as explore a livelihood in the sports industry.
