ICAI lends helping hand to the Kerala flood victims

In the month of Aug 2018 ,the floods in the state of Kerala caused extensive devastation and a large number of people lost their lives and thousands were rendered homeless. To provide relief to the affected flood victims in Kerala and support them in time of crisis, ICAI took the initiative and appealed to its members and employees to contribute generously towards Kerala relief fund . ICAI as a partner to the nation since last 70 years and considering it as a part of its societal responsibility, contributed Rs.70 lac for Kerala flood victims. Read more

Jindal Stainless supports rehabilitation efforts at Kerala, 25,000 stainless steel plates and glasses, and 500 solar lamps being donated to the flood affected state

Aiding the relief and rehabilitation measures in the flood-hit state of Kerala, Jindal Stainless donated relief material, including 25,000 stainless steel plates and glasses. In collaboration with Luci solar, USA, 500 solar light have also been sent, which are collapsible and easy to carry. These lights, which can charge during the day and be used as night lights, will be distributed in the worst affected areas. Jindal Stainless presented a token of 5 boxes to Kerala government officials at Kerala House. The relief material, benefitting nearly 5000 families, will be distributed in Alleppey by the on-ground implementation partner, World Vision, in collaboration with the District Collector, Alleppey, Mr S Suhas. Chairperson, JSL Foundation, Smt Deepika Jindal said, “We are deeply saddened by the loss of lives and property in Kerala. Rehabilitation of affected families is a long process. This is a small measure to help augment household utilities for people in need”. Read more

Ekata Manch’s strong attendance at ‘Kerala Flood Relief Rally’set an example of unity and integrity at Children Welfare Centre High School,Andheri (West), Mumbai on 1 September 2018

Social organization, ‘Ekata Manch’ successfully organized a huge ‘Kerala Flood Relief Rally’ on Saturday, 1st September 2018. The rally showed the strength of unity to provide aid to the distressed. The religious guru of Versova’s temple, mosque, gurudwara also participated in this rally. This rally was organized by College of Commerce, Children Welfare Centre High School, Lions Club Bombay Oceanic and other institute in association with social organization ‘Ekata Manch’ and its General Secretary Shri Ajay Kaul had arranged it at Welfare Centre High School Ground, Yari Road, Versova, Andheri (West), Mumbai-400 061. HDFC Bank to adopt 30 flood-hit villages in Kerala

HDFC Bank today announced that it will adopt 30 villages in Kerala. As part of its long-term relief and rehabilitation efforts, this initiative is aimed at helping people in the worst-hit parts of the state recover, and encompasses the following:
• setting up medical camps and rebuild health centres affected in the flood
• supporting the renovation/reconstruction of local schools
• imparting skills training to families to restore livelihood
These measures will be finalised in consultation with the state government and will be a long-term plan. The Bank’s local NGO partners will help provide on-ground help in the process.
Additionally, the Bank has contributed Rs 10 crore to the Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund as an immediate relief measure. The Bank employees contributed a day’s salary with the Bank bringing in the balance. Read more

Mumbai NGO to attempt Guinness World Record for World’s Biggest Modak weighing 650 Kgs in support of Kerala Flood Rescue Efforts

A Mumbai-based NGO Utkarsh Education Trust will attempt to set a new Guinness World Record for the World’s Biggest Modak.

The NGO which is supported by the Nevada Putman Foundation, through this attempt wants to highlight the plight of the poor in Kerala and create awareness and motivate Mumbaikars to donate and support the cause of Kerala Flood Rescue and Relief work.

The brainchild of Dr Pranav Kabra, the event is supported by several prominent citizens from the area including social activist Nevada Putman.

The attempt will take place on 13th September at Evershine Nagar at Malad in suburban Mumbai. A bevy of Bollywood celebs and Tv stars are expected to be in attendance at the event. Read more

DHFL Pramerica Life Insurance Co. Ltd. has set up a special helpdesk to service the beneficiaries of the policyholders affected by the ravaging floods in the state of Kerala. For the quick settlement of the claims, the company has simplified the claim documentation requirements and have appointed nodal officers to oversee the claim settlement process.

Utkarsh Sharma who will mark his debut in “Genius” along with the director of the film Anil Sharma & producer of the film Deepak Mukut have mobilised all their powers into the rescue operation.
Utkarsh Sharma has donated his Part of his  pay cheque to the victims of Kerala floods to build the state back to its glory again. The actor is actively gathering support for the people of Kerala through social media. Star India mobilises disaster relief for Kerala; Star network rallies public support #AllForKerala

As Kerala struggles with the devastation of massive floods, Star India, and its employees have stepped up to donate to and mobilise disaster relief for the flood-ravaged state #AllForKerala

Star India will donate Rs 2 Crores to the Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund (CMDRF) of Kerala. Additionally, Asianetemployees have pledged Rs 25 lacs and all Star India employees are being encouraged to donate at least one day’s salary, and on its part, Star India will match the total contribution of its employees. The donations will be directed to the CMDRF to expedite post-emergency recovery and rehabilitation work in the flood-ravaged areas and districts across Kerala. Furthermore, Star India has also partnered with the NGO ‘Goonj’ to aid with the supply of material contributions to the flood victims. Read more
