After vowing critics and audience internationally, National Award winning filmmaker Rima Das’ Assamese feature, Village Rockstars is slated for Pan-India theatrical release on 28th September 2018

Filmmaker Rima Das’ National Award winning film Village Rockstars is slated for a Pan-India theatrical release on 28th September 2018.


The film will be released through VKAAO, a joint venture of PVR Pictures and Bookmyshow in metros cities of India and in more than 30 screens in Assam through Kamakhya Films. 


Village Rockstars is the story of Dhunu, a girl who grows up in poverty and learns to fend for herself. However, that does not prevent her from following her dream of forming a rock band and owning a guitar someday. Most of the cast members of the film are non-actors including Rima Das’ niece Bhanita who plays Dhunu and the other kids who hail from Das’ native village in Assam.


The director-cinematographer-editor-producer Rima Das says, “After travelling to many film festivals across the world and winning hearts, I am so delighted that the exciting journey of Village Rockstars has come to its final stage when we prepare with nervous anticipation and hope to present the film to the audiences in OUR homeland.” Read more

Amruta Fadnavis launches Lit-O-Fest to promote Rural development internationally.

Lit O Fest’ Mumbai, India’s premiere festival of Literature, Art and Culture is all set to spread its creative wings by taking the festival international. The 5th edition of the festival will be in London early next month. It was announced in a Press Conference organised in Varsha, the official residence of the Chief Minister, Maharashtra last evening where the first lady Amruta Fadnavis, Smita Parikh, the founding Director of Lit O Fest Mumbai and Author- Filmmaker Pankaj Dubey, who are all part of the contingent spoke to the Press.

“We are excited to be part of this wonderful cultural initiative by Smita Parikh and Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) is doing whatever it can to support the event. Lit O Fest is doing wonderful job in using literature to improvise the plight of education and literacy in the villages of Maharashtra and taking this campaign internationally”, said Amruta Fadnavis who would be present during the London Chapter of Lit O Fest in Bhartiya Vidya Bhawan London and the House of Lords, British Parliament, London on the 6th and the 7th of September’2018.
