Bollywood Theme Park to Boost Tourism in Maharashtra – Principal Secretary, Tourism, Govt of Maharashtra

Speaking at the World Tourism day, the Principal Secretary, Tourism and Cultural Affairs Department, Government of Maharashtra, Mr Vijay Gautam in his key note address, informed of a Bollywood theme park being set up by Mahindra & Mahindra Group, which will give the much needed boost to the Mumbai tourism in particular and the state in general. He said since the declaration of the states’ Tourism policy in 2016, the state has attracted 6600/- crore worth of investments into tourism infrastructure and facilities. He said the state is endeavoring to add international flavor to the various tourism initiatives and the next big activity is being undertaken to promote and enhance facilities at the Elephanta. In a major step to put the state on global tourist map, he informed the world largest circus Cirque Du Soleil would be touring Mumbai in November – the first of its kind to ever visit India.

He said tourism has a great potential in generating employment with a multiplier effect. He said the digital transformation taking place is making it easy in “Do It Yourself” concept where the tourism has moved from destination to exponential tourism.

Earlier welcoming the Chief Guest, the Director General of IMC, Mr Ajit Mangrulkar, said the digital initiatives in the tourism and hospitality sector is making a paradigm shift in broad basing the activities and services of the sector. He said the increased usage of smart phones, internet and the launch of travel and hotel booking portals by specialized service providers is adding to the employment and to the country’s GDP. He said innovative products such as medical tourism, rural and culinary tourism will open new vistas of economic growth and development. Read more

UNIDO and ISHRAE collaborating with Govt of India to facilitate adoption of low-carbon technologies in Industry

UNIDO- United Nations Industrial Development Organization in collaboration with Govt. of India has launched a comprehensive 5-year program to facilitate adoption of low-carbon technologies in Industry; by encouraging and financially supporting Innovation.

One area identified is,’ Space Conditioning’ that covers Air Conditioning, Refrigeration & Cold-chain. UNIDO has graciously accepted ISHRAE (The Indian Society of Heating Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers) as a Partner in this nation-wide initiative because of the well-acknowledged reach of ISHRAE in the Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Industry through its active presence in 41 cities in India. ISHRAE will help connect UNIDO to Industry & Academia to encourage participants to accept the UNIDO Innovation Challenge to develop commercially viable products in Space-Conditioning, Refrigeration & Cold-chain.
ISHRAE has been working with another UN body-UNEP (United Nations Environment Programme) to promote the responsible use of Refrigerants in AC & R Industry, in line with global practices accepted under the Montreal Protocol & Kigali Amendments.  Read more

Govt. of Karnataka Gears Up the Mobility Ecosystem with ‘MOVE’ Summit Southern Regional Workshop

Govt. of Karnataka is organizing a one day regional workshop for the southern region on August 7, 2018 at Taj Vivanta, MG Road, Bengaluru. The workshop aims to discuss states plan and would seek suggestions for establishing an enabling ecosystem for transforming mobility in the country. The outcome of the workshop will play a major role in giving direction to state level mobility strategy.

The one day workshop, supported by WEC India as knowledge partner, is organized to gear up for the momentum on NITI Aayog’s India’s First Global Mobility Summit, ‘MOVE’ a global Mobility Summit to be scheduled on 7-8 September, 2018. NITI Aayog has constituted a core group  of experts to provide intellectual inputs to the Summit and also constituted a State Level Task force on Mobility to develop state specific mobility strategies. As part of the core group expert, Mr. Seethapathy Chander will be representing WEC India. He is also the nodal person of state level task force for Southern states (Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telengana, Karnataka, Pondicherry and Lakshadweep). Read more

Government of Haryana, Higher Education department & Youth4work have entered into a collaboration to facilitate Skill Profiling of All higher Education students in Haryana with Youth4work & help them get Jobs and Internship Opportunities. Currently over 2 Lac students are passing each year gaining technical education in Haryana. This Tie-up helps and ensures all these students to use the new age technology and digital medium to give a free skill tests and showcase their skill profiles online. Govt. of Odisha to partner with Indian Hockey: Announces 5 yr Association with National Teams

The Govt. of Odisha today announced a first-of-its-kind association with Hockey India for the next five years. The state also unveiled its logo that will don the new jerseys of Team India: Men’s and Women’s hockey teams. The launch was graced by the Honorable Chief Minister of Odisha Shri Naveen Patnaik along with Team India: Men and Women, Dr. Narinder Dhruv Batra, President, FIH and President, IOA and legends of Indian Hockey including Dilip Tirkey, Dhanraj Pillay and Viren Rasquinha.
