The event started with auspicious Indian traditional lamp lighting ceremony.

The 35th edition of the India international Jewellery Show IIJS organised by GJEPC concluded in Mumbai today with a note of positivity and cheer for the entire trade. IIJS, a premium annual event received all round support with over 40,000 visitors from over 800 cities across 80 countries attending and previewing exhibitions of over 1300 exhibitors.

 

GJEPC had organised a Prelude to IIJS, jewellery fashion extravaganza by the IIJS 2018 Exhibitors to showcase their exquisite jewellery collections to crème de la crème audience comprising of leading retailers, design houses & International buyers visiting IIJS 2018. This was an excellent opportunity for buyers to get an overview of the new and innovative designs and trends from the exhibitors of IIJS 2018. Read more

In his presentation of Union Budget 2017-18, India’s Hon. Finance Minister focused on ‘Transform, Energise and Clean India’ (TEC) against the backdrop of global uncertainty. India is now the 6th largest manufacturer in the world and the engine of global growth, which shows that Make in India focus is reaping good dividends. Gem & jewellery manufacturing contributes to a significant share of India’s total manufacturing and is amongst the top employers in the country. Gem & jewellery exports account for around 13-17% of India’s total exports in the last few years.

Though most gems and jewellery companies do individual charity, GJEPC’s ‘Jewellers for Hope’ is the ONLY event where jewellers come together for a common cause.

India’s Gems & Jewellery exports declines by 3.46% to USD 38,599.18 mn: GJEPC

India’s Exports of gems and jewellery dropped 3.46% in FY16 to USD 38,599.18 mn as compared to USD 39,980.63 mn in FY15. Gross exports of cut and polished diamonds in FY2016 (financial year April 2015 to March 2016) dropped 13.66% to USD 19,996.06 million (provisional same ports figures and data) as compared to USD 23,160.18 mn in FY15. Apex body The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India (GoI) released annual export performance report for FY2016 in the presence of Chairman Mr. Praveenshankar Pandya, Vice Chairman Mr. Russell Mehta and other Directors. Exports of gold jewellery in FY16 dropped 13.07% to USD 8,609.25 mn as compared to USD 9,903.61 mn in FY15. Exports of Colored Gemstones dropped 4.43% in FY16 to USD 433.18 mn as compared to USD 453.25 mn in FY15. Other exports (such as pearls, synthetic stones, costume and fashion jewellery, etc.) increased by 49.66% in FY16.
