Atta Galatta is going to host the book reading and launch of Apostrophe by Barnali Ray Shukla on 5th January, 05:30 pm onwards.

Barnali Ray Shukla is an Indian writer, filmmaker and a poet. Her creative writing has featured in journals and anthologies, including: Indian Ruminations, Sunflower Collective, OutOfPrint, Kitaab.org, OUTCAST, madrasmag.in, Vayavya, Anthology of Contemporary Indian Poetry II, Indian cultural forum.in, UCityReview (USA) and A Portrait in Blues (UK).

Experience a combination of dance and storytelling at ‘Chinnadevi – The Elusive Dancer’.

In this historical fictional account of one of the Queens of the Vijayanagara empire, dance, music and the literary arts is at the heart of its flourishing. Set in the 15th century, Chinnadevi: The Elusive Dancer, is a love story of a dancer and the emperor. After falling in love, Prince Krishna Deva Raya and Chinnadevi are tragically parted and spend half of their lives trying to find each other. Dance and poetry keep them alive, but apart. Krishna Deva Raya fights wars, builds magnificent temples, writes exquisite poetry, driven by his love for Chinnadevi. And Chinnadevi learns Bharathanatyam, becomes a devadasi, serves at a mutt, and endures the censure of medieval society. Will she ever meet Krishna Deva Raya again? Does she marry her Prince and live happily ever after?
