Ambiance performances and youth forum shows took place today as a part of the 20th Bharat Rang Mahotsav

The youth forum at the 20th Bharat Rang Mahotsav today presented the following three plays:

Band Baja Hawalat: The play by Zaahir, Bharati Vidyapeeth’s College of Engineering, depicts the cons of section 498A of the Indian Constitution thatcame to play for the wellbeing of the women who were being tortured and pressuized for giving dowry. Over the years, this Section of the Indian Penal Code has been widely used as a means of harassment by the Indian Women, who foul play this act for their own benefits. They use this amendment of the constitution for extortion of money, for keeping extramarital affairs and other different benefits that not only destroy the groom’s life significantly but rather shatters the life of the family members as well.

The Hiranandani Foundation School – International (HFSI) in Mumbai played host to the TEDxYouth@HFSI event. And though one speaker in the midst of a fantastic line-up may have stood a little shorter than her peers, her inspiring speech more than made up the difference. Advika Nair, a 9-year-old student at HFIS, became the youngest person to ever speak at a TEDx forum in India. Advika’s talk revolved around ‘Possibilities’, and the potential to change the world inherent in every child, inspired by her own experiences and observations of the world at large.

Though modern advancements have raised the bar on how films are made, it is the heart of the storyteller that still remains the true essence of the movie. This the panellists on Day 3 of the Open Forum agreed to be the crux of any film making endeavour.

In deliberating on ‘New Media opening new opportunities for the survival of the film industry’, David Shapiro, Uplifting Cinema Pvt. Ltd., from America said that it ‘is the heart that has spoken for thousands of years in theatre and drama and in film.’ He eloquently elaborated, “It’s the same heart that has pulsed through the veins of all these dramas.”

USAID LAUNCHES ’SMALL WATER ENTERPRISE’ ALLIANCE AT SAFE WATER NETWORK’S 7TH BEYOND THE PIPE FORUM, NEW DELHI

The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) today launched the Small Water Enterprise (SWE) Alliance, a multi-sectoral collaboration facilitated by Safe Water Network, focused on promoting an ecosystem for scale-up of Small Water Enterprises. The SWE Alliance, comprised of SWE practitioners, entrepreneurs, technology providers, service providers, funders and knowledge providers will work together to align on standards and promote policy reform to accelerate the scale-up of SWEs and contribute to the achievement of U.N. Sustainable Development Goal 6.1, universal access to safe water for all.

Forever Against Animal Testing

Natura &Co, the global purpose-driven beauty group, and its ethical beauty brand The Body Shop, are this week advocating for change at the United Nations (UN) High Level Political Forum (HLPF), taking place in New York.

Natura &Co, Natura and The Body Shop are hosting and participating in events throughout the week with key UN missions and stakeholders to reinforce their commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and their drive to build a fairer and more sustainable world.

In line with the HLPF theme of “Transformation towards sustainable and resilient societies,” The Body Shop will be enforcing its commitment to Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) Goal 12: responsible consumption and production. The goal is relevant to The Body Shop and Cruelty Free International’s current Forever Against Animal Testing Campaign, which aims to end animal testing in cosmetics globally. Seven million people around the world have signed the petition which will be presented to the UN later this year.
