Sportswear Brand and Amazon Fashion exclusive, D:FY launched with a grand event at Phoenix Market City, Kurla, in Mumbai. The event was attended by stalwarts from the retail and online industry, celebrities from the sports and Bollywood as well as influencers, socialites & fitness enthusiasts.

The event commenced with an interesting and engaging panel discussion on, ‘Is Sports finally taking centre-stage in India?’, where panellists – Mr. Kishore Biyani, Founder Future Group, Mr. Ritesh Sidhwani & Mr. Farhan Akhtar, Founders, Excel Entertainment Pvt. Ltd., Anil Kumble, Indian cricketing legend and Mayank Shivam, Director, Category Management, Amazon Fashion, provided fascinating insights into the emergence of sports and sportswear in India. The entire panel discussion was moderated by actress and Fitness Enthusiast, Mandira Bedi. Post the panel discussion, there was a unique fitness challenge, ‘Get.Set. D:FY’ was flagged off by Farhan Akhtar where celebrities like Nidhhi Agerwal, Saqeeb Salem, Mandira Bedi, Karan Tacker and Rhea Chakraborty, had to participate in a series of fitness & sports related challenge not just to test themselves but also to test and taste the D:FY range of footwear, apparel and accessories. Stronger Product Portfolio and New Campaigns Bring Cheer to Footwear Giant Bata

European footwear giant and India’s most preferred footwear brand, Bata, records a healthy profit before exceptional items and tax of INR 106 crore for its third quarter ended December 31, 2017, on the back of stronger product portfolio, continued focus on making its designs more fashionable and driving cost efficiencies in manufacturing and non-manufacturing areas.

The retail market showed a strong growth riding on the festive season which was supported by strong marketing efforts in both online and at store level.  The festive season took off with women’s Fashion-Forward collection featuringManushi Chhillar, fbb Femina Ms India 2017 as the face of the collection comprising evening, party and work wear. In the sports segment, Bata introduced two new athleisure-inspired Power products – Glidesteam and Nwalk featuringAditi Arya, fbb Femina Ms India World 2015 sporting these ‘Walk with Comfort’ collections. Bata also brought back its iconic Ambassador collection and added fresh styles to its already successful European collection for the discerning urban male. In addition Bata undertook online marketing initiatives using digital influencers. The cumulative effect of these marketing initiatives and a change in product-mix enabled higher ASP with better margins and is getting reflected in the buoyant Q3 results. Read more

Fashion footwear on ShopClues clocks 250% growth in Q3

 ShopClues – India’s first and largest managed marketplace that has a strong presence in rural India, has recorded a growth of 250% in footwear as per its sales data for the fiscal quarter ended Dec 2017. Tier 3 and Tier 4 markets continue to contribute 75% of all footwear sales, with over 70% order share in the Rs.199-Rs.499 price point.

At present, the footwear category at ShopClues offers its buyers more than 3 lakh pairs of shoes with prices ranging from Rs 299 to 1499. Some of the regional brands that are doing big on ShopClues are Lancer, Red Chief, Sparx, Asian, Catwalk and Lavie, giving the merchants good business growth.

ShopClues has followed a mixed merchandise strategy which includes both exclusive and branded labels, including an ‘exclusive range’ from Lotto and Lancer, as well as discounted ranges from brands like Reebok and Puma. These products add to its existing portfolio of exclusive labels such as Baton for men and MEIA footwear for women that were promoted regionally with customized promotions and which contributed significantly to its sales.  Read more
