Professor Abhijit Banerjee, Ford Foundation International Professor of Economics at Massachusetts Institute of Technology delivering the lecture on "Redesigning Social Policy"at the EXIM Bank's 34th Commencement Day Annual Lecture

Professor Abhijit Banerjee, currently the Ford Foundation International Professor of Economics at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), delivered the Export-Import Bank of India’s (Exim Bank’s) 34th Commencement Day Annual Lecture in Mumbai on January 9, 2019. Professor Banerjee is also the co-Founder and Director of the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab at MIT and has been an honorary consultant at the Planning Commission of India. He spoke on the topic, “Redesigning Social Policy”.

Export-Import Bank of India (Exim Bank) has been supporting and curating grassroots enterprises and craftsmen across India, in the areas of product development, design & packaging sensitization, with the twin-objective of reviving the traditional arts and crafts of India besides affording a sustainable means of livelihood to the artisans. The Bank, through its training programmes and workshops, has been able to motivate second generation artisans into learning ancestral crafts, build a sustainable business and help gain due recognition for the various arts and crafts, at several platforms across India and overseas.

In order to further strengthen these efforts, Exim Bank has organized an exclusively curated exhibition-cum-sale of Handmade traditional & contemporary arts, crafts and textiles from across India. Export-Import Bank of India is organizing the second edition of Exim Bazaar, an exhibition that showcases specially curated handicraft items from across India. The exhibition-cum-sale will be held from September 28 to 30, 2018, between 10:00 am and 7:00 pm at the Nehru Centre, Worli, Mumbai. The exhibition will be bringing together artisan groups from Andhra Pradesh, Goa, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Odisha, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttarakhand and West Bengal, showcasing their products. Exim Bank supports handicraft clusters and artisans under its various programmes and Exim Bazaar is a special platform for the artisans to display and sell their products. Read more
