Indian Performing Right Society Opts For Digital Payments For Licenses.

In a pro-Digital India move, the Indian Performing Right Society (IPRS) has gone cashless, by encouraging digital payments, for smooth, convenient and effective transactions. Under the new management, who has set a goal of making the IPRS a world class organisation, the introduction of digital payments is a step in that direction. With this cashless system of applying for a license, users can now simply log on to the IPRS website, fill in the application, and make the required payment online. Post this, the applicant will receive their license immediately via e-mail and SMS.
Commenting on this new development, Javed Akhtar, Chairman of the IPRS said- IPRS wants to ensure that purchasing of licenses by organiser for any event, big or small and anywhere in the country, can be done at the click of a mouse. This step will bring total transparency and ease of doing business with the Society to the benefit of everybody concerned; on the other hand, events organiser should have no excuse anymore for not obtaining the license required under the law.” As the only government authorised body in the country to administer rights, issue licenses and collect royalties for authors, composers and publishers in respect of musical and literary works (lyrics), cashless payments will bring about ease of doing business. One Digital Entertainment launches the country’s first ever digital food reality show; India’s Digital Chef

In the wake of promoting health along with entertainment, One Digital Entertainment is all set to launch India’s first ever digital food reality show called India’s Digital Chef (IDC). Slated to be a 15 episode series, it will be judged by India’s top acclaimed chefs like Sanjeev Kapoor, Saransh Goila and Amrita Raichand.

Powered by India Gate Brown Rice Weight watchers special and Livpure as the Associate Sponsor, the series aims to reach out to a maximum number of food aficionados in a fun and entertaining style. Food enthusiasts who wish to participate in the show are called out to send in their entries immediately.

After receiving the entries, 16 contestants will be selected to fight for India’s best digital chef’s spot. Post a tough and entertaining competition the judges will select the champion who will win at creating a perfect melange of healthiness with flavours and taste, into some exotic lip-smacking delicacies. The show will go on air by the end of August on all of IDC’s digital platforms.

IMI / IFPI lauds the Union Cabinet’s Decision of extending the coverage of copyright to the internet and digital environment

The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has approved a Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion, Ministry of Commerce and Industry recommendation to access to the WIPO Copyright Treaty and WIPO Performers and Phonograms Treaty which extends the coverage of copyright to the internet and digital environment. This has been a long-standing demand of the copyright industries that rely on commercialization of IP.

Commenting on this landmark decision, Frances Moore, CEO, IFPI said: “IFPI welcomes this move from the Indian Government. Accession to the WIPO Internet Treaties is excellent news for the protection of Indian music – within India and globally”.

Mr. Shridhar Subramaniam, Chairman, IMI says “This move from the government of India is a huge victory for all Indian IPR owners. The provisions to protect copyright in the Digital Environment was much needed. This would enable growth for Indian IP  by instilling confidence and spur investments and growth in the creative Industries.” Read more

Actor Yuvraj Singh, who made his acting debut with the Bollywood movie Beimaan love, will be releasing the short film he directed on a notable digital platform. Charlie at Midnight is an intriguing film about how two college-going boys get sucked into deadly drugs. The 35-minute film was featured in over 25 Indian as well as international film festivals and won over 15 awards. The film stars Yuvraj Singh alongside Asheesh Kapoor and Shiv Pandit. In a recent interview with the actor, he said “The film not only sheds light on the problems pertaining to drug abuse but also the tumultuous life of struggling actors in Mumbai. The multi-award winning film has made waves at several international film festivals and been appreciated by many. NEC’s Data Platform for Hadoop helps DMICDC Logistics Data Services drive digital transformation

NEC Corporation (NEC; TSE: 6701) today announced that India-basedDMICDC Logistics Data Services Ltd. (DLDS) adopted NEC’s Big Data Platform to support their Logistics Data Bank (LDB) project in pursuit of digital transformation.

 

DLDS provides Export and Import (EXIM) container visibility through the LDB project, which manages thedata analytics for container traffic.

 

Through adoption of NEC’s big data platform, “Data Platform for Hadoop,” (DPH) and “Data Integration and Analytics Services” (*1), the LDB project, which manages enormous data sizes related to nearly 70% of the India’s EXIM container volume, has been significantly enhanced with an “integrated analytics platform for collecting, storing, processing and analyzing data on a single platform” and an “automated reporting process,” while minimizing infrastructure investment.

 

NEC’s DPH helped to automate LDB’s processes by enabling the creation of monthly/annual analytical reports with a single click, instead of creating reports manually, thereby improving overall productivity. Read more
