After a star-studded celebration of her 25th anniversary with family and friends, India’s leading celebrity fitness trainer Yasmin Karachiwala organised a CSR initiative to encourage a culture of fitness and sport among underprivileged children in association with UACTIV, The Little League Football NGO and Vivekananda Youth Forum. The country’s largest luxury car manufacturer Mercedes-Benz India today announced three unique initiatives in the neighbouring districts of Pune. These initiatives include an E-lab facility at ITI Ghodegaon, a watershed conservation structure at Thakarwadi-Landewadi and the Draw Down Cultivation project in Ambegaon taluka. The Centre for CSR and Sustainability Excellence, a non profit foundation conducted its first successful talk show D-talk on the subject Creating a Safe Online Space for Women and Children at the Nehru Memorial Museum and Library. The flagship talk show titled “My Safe Space” intends to highlight the growing trend of trolling and abusing women online while indicate cyber threat against children. The agenda of the talk session was to emphasize the major types of crime witnessed by women and children in the online space and provide some recommendations on security, safety and legal ramifications.

The show was graced with the presence of some distinguished subject-matter experts such as clinical psychologist and activist Dr. Jayanti Dutta- Clinical Psychologist & Activist, Advocate Prashant Mali- Bombay High Court, Advocate Mr. Pavan Duggal- Supreme Court, Cyber security expert Mr. Rakhsit Tandon. Bollywood celebrity divas Shilpa Shetty and Manisha Koirala, ace fashion designer and social worker Shaina NC and Indian Cricketer Zaheer Khan, along with Paul Rowley, Executive Vice President, Diamond Trading & Distribution, Mr Pramod Agrawal, Chairman, GJEPC, Mr Colin Shah, Vice Chairman, GJEPC and Mr Shailesh Sangiani, Member Gold Jewellery & Other Precious Metal Jewellery Panel, GJEPC at the "Jewellerys for Hope" a gala charity dinner with an avowed objective to collaborate and contribute for the larger cause of preventing the exploitation of the child and as well support the cause of the physically disadvantaged people at large. Rs 1 Crore was raised at this CSR initiative by The Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) for the benefit of under privilege. This event was organised on the sidelines of the 35th Edition of India International Jewellery Show (IIJS) 2018, an annual gems and jewellery extravaganza by GJEPC.

The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC), in association with De Beers and Powered by Gemological Institute of America (GIA),  presented the fourth edition of  ‘Jewellers for Hope’ on August 9. A gala charity dinner with an avowed objective to collaborate and contribute for the larger cause of preventing the exploitation of the child and as well support the cause of the physically disadvantaged people at large. Mr. Kailash Satyarthi, Nobel Prize Winner; social activist Ms. Shaina NC; Padma Bhushan recipient Dr. D. Relaxo CSR Project with Dr. Shroff’s Charity Eye Hospital

Relaxo Foundation and Dr. Shroff’s Charity Eye Hospital have signed MoU on 15th Jan’18 to implement jointly developed 3-year long project ‘Nayan’ in the Tijara block of Alwar district. The project will provide comprehensive quality and sustainable Eye care services from primary to secondary level to more than 2.5 lakh people of 187 villages of Tijara block.

The long term project goal is to create a positive and facilitative environment for positive health seeking behaviour in the under privileged sections so that early identification and treatment of ‘Avoidable Blindness’ is made possible in a self-sustainable quality oriented delivery system which furthers the  goal of Vision 2020.

According to Census of India 2011, out of total 121 crore population, approximately 1.21 crore are visually impaired. The main causes of blindness in India are Cataract (62.6%) Refractive Error (19.70%) Corneal Blindness (0.90%), Glaucoma (5.80%), Surgical Complication (1.20%) Posterior Capsular Opacification (0.90%) Posterior Segment Disorder (4.70%), Others (4.19%) Estimated National Prevalence of Childhood Blindness /Low Vision is 0.80 per thousand.
