The All India Gem and Jewellery Domestic Council (GJC) has condemned harassment of jewellers by Government officials in the pre-festival period. Several incidents across States have come to light wherein the police (including RPF), Income Tax officials and GST officials have conducted illegal raids on jewellers, especially the small and medium sized players, and caused mental torture and harassment at a time when jewellers are grappling with low sales during the festive season. There have been complaints that the officials are indulging in nepotism and bribes.

India’s plastics export jump 31.6% in Apr 18 – Sep 18 (H1 2018-19) to USD 4.59 bn as per The Plastics Export Promotion Council

India’s plastics exports posted a growth of 31.6% at USD 4.59 billion during the period Apr 18-Sep 18 (H1 2018-19) as against USD 3.48 billion in same period during H1 2017-18, registering a faster pace of growth than the overall merchandise export growth from India as per The Plastics Export Promotion Council (PLEXCONCIL). During H1 2018-19, India reported merchandise exports worth USD 164.04 billion, up 12.5% from USD 145.75 billion in H1 2017-18.

DesignTech Systems has signed an MoU with IASC (Instrumentation Automation Surveillance and Communication) Sector Skill Council – a not for Profit Organization under Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Government of India to provide advanced skills based training certifications to qualified trained personnel. The objective behind inking this MoU is to facilitate and encourage the aspiring and ambitious youngsters to acquire specialized technical skills based certifications and accreditations from an esteemed government institution, IASC, founded by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship under their premier Skill India Initiative. Industry recognized and respected Accreditation from IASC would certainly open up various quality employment opportunities for the certified job aspirants.

As an assessment Partner and Associate for IASC, DesignTech, under the terms of MoU, will create awareness about and promote these Certification courses at the existing State Funded Centres of Excellence managed and operated by DesignTech Systems. In accordance to the Agreements entered into with various State Governments such as Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Jharkhand, DesignTech Systems has established and is executing trainings on latest and most advanced technologies in electro-mechanical field at more than 25 Siemens Centres of Excellence across various cities in these states. The All India Gem and Jewellery Domestic Council (GJC)), formerly known as All India Gems & Jewellery Trade Federation (GJF), extends its support to Gem & Jewellery Skill Council of India (GJSCI) for preparing candidates to represent India in the upcoming WorldSkills Competition to be held at Kazan, Russia in 2019.

The preparation for the competition started with a registration process, where about more than 150 candidates across India registered themselves for the WorldSkills Competition. The registered participants went through a screening process, where 16 candidates were shortlisted for the two regional level competitions which were held in May and June, 2018 and 6 winners were identified, who would compete at the national level IndiaSkills Competition later this year. India’s export of plastics posted a growth of 17.1% at USD 8.8.85 billion during the year 2017-18 as against USD 7.56 billion in 2016-17, registering a faster pace of growth than the overall merchandise export growth from India as per The Plastics Export Promotion Council (PLEXCONCIL). The merchandise exports from India touched US$ 303.3 billion, registering a growth of 9.9% in 2017-18 (provisional) vis-a-vis US$ 275.9 billion in 2016-17.

3M India addresses the importance of 100% safety compliance behavior at the 3rd India Pharmaceutical Advisory Council in Mumbai

On the back of celebrating National Safety Month, 3M India organized the third edition of the India Pharmaceutical Advisory Council (IPAC) in Mumbai today. Aimed at educating and addressing daily safety challenges and ensuring worker safety, the IPAC brought together 3M’s Global/Indian experts and pharmaceutical partners such as Abbott, Cipla, Emcure, GSK, Inventia Healthcare, Mylan, Microlabs, Unichem and Zydys Pfizer among others, to discuss the importance of “Moving towards 100% Safety Compliance Behavior”.

 

Talking about the risk arising from solvents in the pharmaceutical industry, Mr. Bharat Londhe, Global EHS Head for Piramal, suggested the methods they are using to build the engineering and administrative controls.
