What:Tapestry weaving has a rich history and significance since the Hellenistic times. It is a woven form of a painting. Tapestry, as interpreted by us, is a form of art in the medium of textiles having strong elements of texture, feel and beauty. Weaving has the ability to make connections between apparent opposites, which are in reality, extensions of each other. It is a great deal of Endeavour to work with this non-verbal language of woven structure and colour. As artists, we are keen to introduce this distinct; yet not very renowned art form to people.

Tapestry is a unique work of art that is made in a particular woven textile technique. It develops hand-eye co-ordination and increases concentration, with complete absorption in the activity. The activity of tapestry weaving acts as a form of therapy and gives a visually beautiful result at the end. Read more

Taj Inspired Copper Enamel Range from Baaya Design

Shibani Jain, Founder & CEO- Baaya Design, was always inspired by the resplendent marble inlay work on the walls of the Taj Mahal. She and her team of designers took on the challenge to bring the rich colours seen in the inlay work, into a totally different and equally rich craft- that of copper enamelling. Earlier, the enamelling process was seen in minute work, in jewellery. We decided to try and use a similar process to create a range of copper wall plates and lamps. This was also Baaya’s attempt to revive a fading craft form native to Alibaug, in Maharashtra.  The craft was brought into the place by a Spanish artist named Andreu Vilasís. Read more
