‘Art Bengaluru’, the city’s first ever and only art festival commenced with a Grand Opening Night on Friday – 02 November 2018. The evening witnessed Bengaluru’s art lovers gathering at the beautiful UB City to interact with the artists and view the various exhibits on display. The evening started off with Ms. Uzma Irfan – Festival Director, Art Bengaluru addressing the audience. This was followed by a mesmerizing performance by The Flying Drummers who enthralled the audience with their beats while being suspended mid-air. The Closing Act for the evening was a unique performance by Madpoi
– a flow arts performance troupe from Mumbai which enthralled audiences with their LED poi spinning acts. Weaving circles of light, they morphed between pattern and frequency, fusing performance art and technology.

IndianOil’s biennial art exhibition has come of age, with its 22nd edition this year titled ‘The Canvas Code’. What began as an eclectic art display in 1987 at IndianOil’s head office in Bandra, has today, become a significant event on Mumbai’s art calendar. This philanthropic initiative of IndianOil is organized with a view to support and promote young budding talent in the art fraternity and provides them a prestigious platform to exhibit their work alongside established artists. A wide array of paintings by over 90 artists from across the country will be showcased at the Jehangir Art Gallery from October 24 to 29, 2018. It will also present a diverse range of artworks by artists of different age groups, styles and categories. Varun learns the art of dyeing clothes for Sui Dhaaga!

Mauji aka Varun Dhawan plays a local tailor from heartland India in YRF’s upcoming entertainer Sui Dhaaga – Made in India. A village simpleton, Varun dreams to make a name for himself and puts his talent to good use aiming to become an entrepreneur. To portray this role on screen, Varun ensured that he prepared well. Mauji gets well versed with handloom in the film, and to perfect the same, Varun met with actual handloom workers to learn the art of dyeing fabrics!

“Sui Dhaaga has enabled me to learn such new, amazing skills that I will always cherish. Mauji is an entrepreneur at heart and he passionately wants to realize his dreams. He goes all out to achieve this goal with his wife Mamta. In order to become multi-talented, Mauji has to learn various aspects of weaving and handloom. To become Mauji, I had to learn the art of dyeing fabrics. It was really, really tough,” reveals Varun. Read more

Priyanka volunteered with KHUSHII NGO for several years, supporting art events that were used as fund-raising for Khushii’s activities to support education for underprivileged children. It was after this exposure that her passion for art was ignited and she decided to launch PlanArt to hold group shows and promote scintillating artworks.
