While the whole world was celebrating yoga a miracle was happening at FICCI auditorium in Delhi between 6.30 to 8 pm. It was a rare event one will forever remember, as it was not just shariric (body) yoga by abled people. It was wheelchair yoga performed by differently abled people to celebrate the historic “World Yoga Day”. The entire program was conceptualised, choreographed and directed by Guru Syed Sallauddin Pasha- founder of Ability Unlimited Foundation, a Muslim yoga guru who spent 30 years of his life teaching yoga to differently abled people across the globe. One could see the depth of knowledge of Guruji Pasha by the way he presented the Mantra yoga enchanted by 21 disciples, Nadha yoga by the musicians and shariric yoga, karma yoga, dharma yoga, adhyathma yoga performed on the wheelchair for 90 minutes which proved to the world that yoga is meant for all …. Irrelevant of being abled or disabled.
The most difficult Asanas, sirsasana, mayurasana, chakorasana, yogadandasana performed on the wheelchairs mesmerised the audience. The highlight of the program ” bhagawadgita” showcasing the 10 incarnations of Mahavishnu and the Vishwaroopa was brought alive by the innovative yogic postures on the wheelchairs.
