“The Government’s Vote-on-Account Interim Budget has given a lot of importance to women-led development. The Government’s vision 2030 of a functional and comprehensive wellness system for all with participation of women is a welcome step. The proposed Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan for the unorganised sector workers with monthly income upto Rs. 15,000, is a good step towards financial inclusion initiative from the government.
This will augment the nation-building thrust of the Government and will also bring the unorganized sector workers and their household savings into the financial ecosystem. Various benefits given to the farmers and rural India will induce more savings, increase consumption and part of it may in turn channelize them into risk management tools such as insurance as well. Reduction of tax burden by increased tax rebate for salaried & middle income category of earners up to Rs. 5 lakh and Increased standard Deduction to Rs. 50,000 for the common man & the salaried class are good initiatives which will put more disposable income and hence improve savings.”
