The launch of OPD services was attended by Dr. Harit Chaturvedi, Chairman, Max Institute of Cancer Care, Max Healthcare, Dr. (Col) CP Roy, Director – Medical Education (Cardiology) & Sr. Consultant – Cardiologist, Max Super Specialty Hospital, Saket, Prof (Dr.) VK Jain, Senior Director – Neurosurgery, Max Super Speciality Hospital, Saket and Mr. Sharad Saxena, Senior Vice President & Unit Head – Max Super Speciality Hospital, Saket.
The OPDs will be conducted at Asthalok Hospital, Ford Hospital and Medipark Hospital, Patna from 10.30 am to 3.00 pm. The services will be operational on specific days of every month to allow ease of access for patients for consultations. With the launch of the OPD services, patients across age bracket, socio-economic background, etc. can avail the best consultation and treatment in Patna itself.
At the launch, Dr. Harit Chaturvedi, Chairman, Max Institute of Cancer Care, said, “The understanding of tumour has evolved significantly in last few decades, however new drugs, tools and strategies have emerged only in the last 5-6 years. We are seeing better outcomes and lesser side effects of treatment. There is more hope, growing awareness and better access leading to changing paradigms in cancer care. This has brought down the mortality rate gradually. We need to empower people with more information so that they could benefit from such advancements.”
Dr.(Col) CP Roy, Director – Medical Education (Cardiology) & Sr. Consultant – Cardiologist, Max Super Specialty Hospital, Saket, commented, “India has seen a rapid transition in its heart disease burden. With the increase in diabetes cases, there has been a rapid increase in the number of patients with heart ailments as well. Diabetes increases the risk of heart diseases as it raises the cholesterol levels in the blood and hardens the arteries, a condition known as atherosclerosis. Moreover, diabetics are often overweight which further worsens the condition and raises the risk to heart attacks. The higher the person’s blood sugar level is the higher the chances of developing heart diseases. With the OPD centre, residents of Patna will have access to the expert consultations which are available at Max Super Speciality Hospital, Saket.”
Cardiac OPD is scheduled to be conducted every 1st Saturday of the month at Asthalok Hospital, Kankarbagh by Dr. (Col) CP Roy.
Commenting on the growing incidences of neurological problems amongst people, Prof (Dr.) VK Jain, Senior Director – Neurosurgery, Max Super Speciality Hospital, Saket, shared, “Backbone-related issues are mainly due to bad posture as it directly affects the spinal cord, leading to back pain. By adopting a healthy lifestyle (controlled diet and appropriate exercise), most of these spine-related problems can be prevented. Unfortunately, most patients choose to live a sedentary and inactive lifestyle. With the OPD launch in this region, we aim to provide patients an access to best quality care, without the inconvenience of travelling to Delhi.”
Neurosciences OPD is scheduled to be conducted every 2nd Saturday of the month at Ford Hospital by Prof (Dr.) VK Jain.
“By partnering with Asthalok Hospital, Ford Hospital and Medipark Hospital, the unit is able to spread out to more patients in the city. We have already established ourselves as a tertiary care facility by virtue of having state of the art technology and a blend of the finest medical and surgical skills but now our focus is to cater to the people in other cities so that the quality of life becomes better. Our hospitals are equipped with the state-of-the-art infrastructure, operation theatres, highly qualified nursing and support staff along with internationally trained clinicians who are among the best in the country.” Said Sharad Saxena, Senior Vice President & Unit Head – Max Super Speciality Hospital, Saket.
