Bharatanatyam exponent and scholar Bala Devi Chandrasekhar will be presenting the Utkarsh series – Brihadeeshwara; the form to formless, through the eyes of a Devaradiyal Concept on 13th January at Godrej Dance Theatre, National Centre for the Performing Arts.
It focuses on the connect between the physical structure and spiritual and infinite spatial vibrations experienced by the enchanting temple dancer -Devaradiyal. It is in perennial awe of the spectacular and spellbinding beauty of the grand edifice built by Raja Cholan. The Devaradiyal’s daily religious oblation keeps her mind oscillating seamlessly between the physical form of the structure –Dakshina Meru. Bala Devi will walk us through the components of the sprawling structure accentuating on the key parts of the magnificent complex architecture, whilst weaving a connect the literary, spiritual, physical and metaphysical significance of each of them.
