ISRS (Indian Society for Remote Sensing), the most renowned society in the area of space science/remote sensing/ geo-spatial technology in India, felicitated Prof. (Er.) Jayanta Kumar Ghosh, Civil Engineering Department, IIT Roorkee with the National Geospatial Award for Excellence-2017 (Life Time Achievement Award).

The award was conferred on 5th December 2018 to Prof. J. K. Ghosh at SAC (Space Application Centre) Ahmedabad for his outstanding contributions to the development of geo-spatial science and applications. The award contained a citation, a medal and Rs. 1,00,000.

Speaking on this special occasion, Prof. J. K. Ghosh said that “ this Award is an acknowledgement of scientific contributions and I am glad that the members of Award Committee have liked and acknowledged my work towards development of geo-spatial systems and applications. I sincerely feel that, whatever honor has been conferred upon me is an honor to all, whose benevolence, guidance and assistance helped me to grow up as I am now”.
