Corruption in our society is not a new issue; neither is it limited to
just 2G Spectrum, Bofors, Fodder Scam or Hawala case. It has been in
our lives in various ways since very beginning. Book ‘A Crusade
against corruption” by senior journalist Manohar Manoj is an attempt
to put together the corruption cases in India in different ministries,
different professions including baking, teaching, healthcare, etc. at
Divided in to two volumes of about 800 pages each, this book
encompasses in it every aspect of corruption in all the governments
since independence. The book also focuses on corruption from very
ancient period of the country to until now. Apart from this, this book
presents all forms of structural corruption persisting in the country,
in various organs of democracy followed by various ministries of
governance. This book tells us how the corruption is precipitated in
many sectors, institutions and professions.
The book also includes public opinions and perspectives on corruption
compiled through a detailed and through public survey.
Manoj says he has spent almost a 15-year time span in giving shape to
this work and has touched almost all the dimensions of the problems of
corruption. This book has analyzed the modalities of the prevention
mechanism of the corruption eradication undertaken by the Govt. of
India. The book also presents all the mass movements related to public
resentment against corruption. Manoj has taken a holistic perspective
in producing the comprehensive treatise on the subject ‘Corruption’.
The author regards his book as an all-inclusive exercise on the topic
of corruption, which contains high degree of propensity, insights,
concerns, observations and wholehearted honest commitment towards the
issues of corruption.
