The third edition of MET ( Material Engineering & Technology ) and HTS ( Heat Treat Show ) concluded recently at Cidco Exhibition and Conference Centre , Vashi , Navi Mumbai and was a roaring success . This three day event witnessed the creme de la creme from industry , government and academia in participation and provides the ideal platform for extremely futuristic technologies and processes to be taken forward and implemented . This event is the brainchild of ASM( A Society Of Materials ) India chapter .

Nitin Gadkari , Union Cabinet Minister for Road Transport and Shipping , did the honours for this edition . Addressing the gathering Nitin Gadkari stated that he was delighted by the fact that events of this nature would provide an ideal platform for industry , government and academia to come together and work together for the progress of the nation in key areas like infrastructure and defence . He further added that innovation and research in the key and cited multiple examples of projects in countries like Malaysia . Among the other keynote speakers on this occasion was Sajjan Jindal of JSW , Shailendra Roy of L &T , Sunil Kulkarni of Mahindra & Mahindra , Pradeep Goyal, Chairman of MET and Dr. Frederick E . Schmidt , Chairperson , ASM International and Prem Aurora , Secretary MET

The next 2 days had a hectic schedule with 7 sessions covering areas of materials required in all areas of transportation ,defense and power and a third session on advances in heat treatment . Number of papers presented were 19 in heat treatment and 27 in MET and there were 7 plenary talks given by Dr .Kamachi Mudali CEO, Heavy water board , Dr. Fred Schmidt, President ASM international, Dr .Sudarshan of Matmod USA and past trustee, Mr . Agarwal from Railways , Mr .Eshwara Prasad Director ,Dmsrde, Dr. Satyam Sahay of John Deere and a few others . The event was was attended by 250 plus delegates from all over the country and abroad .There were around 4000 plus focussed visitors in 3 days which speaks volumes of the popularity of event.

The MET & HTS are two important and the largest collaborative platforms of all Indian and International Material Engineering Technology and allied Industries. The MET & HTS 2018 will focus on Defense, Infrastructure (Energy; Roads; Railways; Shipping; Aviation) and Heat Treatment. MET & HTS 2018 being organized by ASM International – India Chapter along with TAFCON, is an ideal platform for the organizations to showcase their latest achievements, initiatives, technologies, machinery & equipment, R&D, logistics, communication, safety and health aspect of Defense, Infrastructure, Heat Treatment and allied industries

It was a complete and integrated business platform delivering tangible business benefits for the exhibitors, delegates and industry visitors.
