On the occasion of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s 93rd birthday on Dec 25 , 2017, a biopic titled Yugpurush Atal was announced. The film will be directed by Mayank P Srivastava.
Produced by Rajeev Dhamija, Amit Joshi and Ranjeet Sharma under the Spectrum Movies banner, the film has been written by Basant Kumar.
Veteran composer Bappi Lahiri has created a song for Yugpurush Atal. “I wish good luck to the makers for this biopic. I have made a song for Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayeeji. This song is made from a poem that he wrote earlier,” said Lahiri.
The biopic is being made with the consent of Vajpayee’s family, which includes his adoptive daughter Namita and her husband Ranjan Bhattacharya. “We are constantly in touch with his family members,” Srivastava said. “His niece Mala Tiwari has helped us in executing this project.”
Vajpayee was known for his petry and oration. Vajpayee has said about his poetry, “My poetry is a declaration of war, not an exordium to defeat. It is not the defeated soldier’s drumbeat of despair, but the fighting warrior’s will to win. It is not the despirited voice of dejection but the stirring shout of victory.”
Atal Bihari Vajpayee was the 10th Prime Minister of India, first for 13 days in 1996 and then from 1998 to 2004. A leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), he is the first Prime Minister from outside the Indian National Congress party to serve a full five-year term. At age 93, Vajpayee is currently the oldest living former Indian Prime Minister.
