This year, the scenic Oxford Golf Resort in Lavale, Pune, is hosting the 11th edition of one of the country’s largest electronic dance music (EDM) festivals. “We’ve upped the ante at Sunburn this year and the line-up is the biggest in Asia,” says Karan Singh, CEO of Sunburn Global, Percept.
Boasting of five massive headlining names including the likes of Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, KSHMR, DJ Snake, Afrojack and Martin Garrix, the 4-day festival will also treat listeners to a wide array of sounds courtesy several artists who will make their presence felt across four stages.
World number one DJ Martin Garrix is set to perform on New Year’s Eve, as will Afrojack. A total of six headliners, including DJ Snake and UK electronic outfit Clean Bandit, will perform across the four days of the festival, something Singh says has been unprecedented for any EDM festival in Asia. The festival this year will include live elements too, with headliner KSHMR performing with a live set. Homegrown artistes include Nucleya, Akade, Ash Roy, Folic State, Joshi and Sartek.
Apart from a fan village, a flea market, and camping and adventure activities, one of this year’s biggest attractions is likely to be the virtual reality experience, where fans can get a feel of what it is like to be a DJ on stage.
400,000 party animals are expected over December 28-31. Sunburn has tied up with Ola this year in a bid to encourage people to enjoy themselves responsibly. They are arranging shuttles from around the city to the venue in Pune.
