Superstar Shah Rukh Khan speaking at a media meet to announce his association with JIO Filmfare Awards 2018 said “I am the best host. I am not being pompous or demeaning anyone. But I’m really the best. I can be a host, perform dances—I can speak in English, in Hindi. I am versatile. Really, I am the best!”
The superstar is going to host the show on 20th January 2018 – in fact this is the twentieth time he will be hosting this uber film awards show. It also marks 25 years of the King Khan in Bollywood.
Shah Rukh Khan says he loves winning awards as nothing can replace the excitement of holding a trophy.
Talking about the first time he won the prestigious Black Lady, SRK said, “When I won my first Filmfare Award, I really felt that my mother and father saw it from heaven.”
Asked about after winning so many awards, if it still holds the same relevance in his life as a superstar, he said: “Yes! I love winning awards. It is not a point to prove that I have done some great body of work and therefore winning the award is a validation to that. I love awards because I love winning!”
Speaking on roasting and poking fun at other actors on award shows, SRK said “Well, I look at things differently. My wife explained it perfectly to me. When I started hosting Filmfare Awards 20 years ago, I was just five years old in the film industry. As a youngster, whatever I did, people took that lightly.
“Now, after being a member of the film fraternity of 25 years, if I am making fun of my contemporaries or senior actors, nobody would take that lightly… nobody would tolerate it as a ‘youngster’s act’ anymore. So yes, as a senior actor, I curtail my sense of humour.”
Filmfare Editor Jitesh Pillaai and Worldwide Media CEO Deepak Lamba, also addressed the media and spoke on how the awards show was increasing its reach through its association with JIO. The digital platform will engage millions of fans of Bollywood. Also innovative interactions are being planned for fans to enjoy a truly immersive experience
