Since 2002, Vocab Wizards opened with the objective of moulding its students writing skills, from a simple expression in English to developing a flair for beautiful writing with the usage of vocabulary and thesaurus. Today, Tejal Mehta’s Vocab Wizards has English Creative Writing Classes, Pop Beans – Reading Club, Debate Club and a Ladies English Club.

“We want to propagate the emotions and beauty of language. Our mission is to construct an environment, which stimulates and encourages students to spark off their creativity. We have consistently endeavored to nurture the imagination of our students and create the capability in them to express their thoughts eloquently,” says Tejal Mehta. She is inspired by her father Shirish Bhansali’s words and has experienced deep insights/ truths of life such as – “You view yourself as your own people view you!”

Today, Vocab Wizards has trained more than 1,000 students aged 8 to 16 years from various schools like Dhirubai Ambami International School, Jamnabai Narsee School, SVKM International, CNMS, Utpal Sanghvi School, Podar Group of Schools, Vibgyor High School, Oberoi International School, etc. Each batch has only 12 students. In fact, many toppers (Darsh Vithlani, Jay Shah amongst others)in these schools have been part of the Vocab Wizards program since their formative years.

Tejal Mehta, who is familiar with several languages such as English, Gujarati, Hindi, Tamil & Marathi, was an avid reader. She was educated in south Mumbai (HR College) – she lived in Ooty as well as in Mumbai. She realized the need to inject new vocabulary into daily life. She used to give tuitions to students in South Mumbai and soon started Vocab Wizards. She associated with an NGO – Kinnari – and soon increased the number of children engaging in the program. This pre-occupation soon became her profession. She realized that there was a vacuum when it came to creative writing, essays (Narrative Essays and Argumentative Essays) and debating among young children.

“I realized that children could not create a visual interpretation as they converted their thoughts into words. I started off on an experimental basis with only 40 students in Warden Road (Mumbai) and today we have crossed the thousand mark. Today many of my students also offer to teach in Vocab Wizards,” says Tejal Mehta.

The academic programs at Vocab Wizards are aligned to the ones in schools. Here are the same…
