Hotstar and Akamai create Internet history

Hotstar, India’s leading premium streaming platform, leveraged Akamai Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: AKAM), the world’s most trusted and largest cloud delivery platform, to create streaming history on 22 May 2018 during the first qualifier match of VIVO IPL 2018. The match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Chennai Super Kings attracted an unprecedented 8.26 million peak concurrent viewers tuning in simultaneously to witness the nail-biting finish, thereby breaking all previous records in online video streaming across the world. Over four hours, more than 26 million viewers tuned into Hotstar to watch the match.

 

The previous record is believed to have been established by YouTube when Felix Baumgartner’s space jump in 2012 saw a peak of just over 8 million concurrent viewers tuning in to watch the event. Read more

#I’mPowerMovement Self Defense Workshop for the Women of Mumbai

The #I’mPowerMovement kicked off its first open event in the city with a session for Mumbai women at Studio Plus at Seva Sadan Society, Grant Road.

Freyan Bhathena opened the session and introduced the #I’mPowerMovement to the audience. This was followed by a session with Kiran Makhijani from Dr. Matcheswalla’s Happy Minds Clinic. Kiran spoke to the ladies who ranged from ages 14 to upward of 50 about their right to not feel harmed mentally when they were leered at or in the worst-case scenario touched or attacked. She stressed on the importance of self-love in each of the girls. You must learn to love yourself so that you then want to protect yourself as a top priority,” said the young Clinical Psychologist from Dr. Matcheswalla’s team. Read more

India’s biggest Doctors’ Badminton Championship launched by pharma major FDC Ltd.

Enerzal, India’s leading balanced Energy and electrolyte drink has launched India’s biggest doctors’ badminton championship. The Enerzal Doctors’ Badminton Championship will be held in 60 cities across the country and will see participation from around 10,000 doctors. The formats within the tournament will be Men’s Singles, Women’s Singles, Men’s Doubles and Women’s Doubles, and only MCI registered doctors are eligible to participate in the tournament. The prize money fund for the championship is INR 8 Lacs.

 

The Championship’s Mumbai leg will be held from the 25th of May till the 27th of May at the iconic Juhu Vile Parle Gymkhana Club. The championship will feature City Legs followed by Zonals and finally the National Finals.

Students of CMR Institute of Technology secured second place in the UVCE (University Visveshvarya College of Engineering), ESPORTIVE Football Tournament 2018 held at the Bangalore University recently. Altogether eight colleges have participated in the tournament. 

The final was played between team CMRIT & Bangalore Institute of Technology. The match was a tie, a penalty shootout was further carried out to determine the winner. Bangalore Institute of Technology was declared the winner of the tournament. Read more
